History of the West Pittston Historical Society

The West Pittston Historical Society was formed in the summer of 2001 when a group of borough residents gathered for the purpose of creating an organization to raise awareness of the historical assets of West Pittston and to preserve them for future generations.

The Society hosts several program meetings each year focusing on the history of the borough and Northeast Pennsylvania. The historic Jenkins Harding Cemetery in the center of the borough is currently maintained through assistance from the West Pittston Historical Society. Additionally, the organization holds a collection of memorabilia relating to the history of the borough. The collection includes West Pittston High School yearbooks, local family histories, historic newspapers including some Pittston Gazette microfilm and vintage photos of the borough.
