Hello:
I just wanted to share what a pleasant experience it was growing up in
W.P. My family moved from there in 1967, but my husband and I moved
back to the Poconos 5 years ago. We often go back to W.P. and the first time I came back after all those years, it was great. I was so pleased to see that the town looks great, and enjoyed driving down Susquehanna Ave. and seeing how lovely all those beautiful victorian homes still look.

Growing up was so much fun in W.P. I remember when the Pool first opened, and Mom sewed our green and white badges on our swim suits, we spent many many hours there as a family.

Also I enjoyed going to grade school on Luzerne Avenue. Also, we enjoyed many birthday parties at the Italian Kitchen with friends. I also remember going to the library during the summer and having books read to us. After the football games we always went to Grablicks for ice cream, and as a Girl Scout enjoyed marching in the different parades.

It seems as though the town has not changed, it still has a warm small town feeling and in these times that is a wonderful feeling.

Thank you for letting me share some of the great memories growing up
in West Pittston.

My memories of W.P. are as a child visiting relatives each summer from Virginia. My brother and sister and I used to walk to Grablick's? dairy for ice cream. The employees there used to ask us to repeat our orders so they could hear our "amusing" southern accents. We used to pour it on thick for them! It was fun and I have fond memories of lazy summer days in W.P. and surrounding area.
